This month, FSC joined the Principles of Responsible Investment (PRI) through FSC Investments & Partnerships. PRI is an independent, UN-supported network helping investors incorporate environmental, social, and governance (ESG) factors into their decisions to create sustainable markets and a more prosperous world for all.
FSC’s mission and practices align strongly with PRI’s goal to build a financial system that supports long-term environmental and social value. Being a PRI network supporter further strengthens FSC’s role as a credible and impactful sustainability standard in the global sustainable finance landscape.
Forests play a critical role in combating climate change and biodiversity loss. FSC champions climate action, supporting companies on their ESG practices and helping investors implement responsible investment through forests and nature-based solutions.
As a PRI network supporter, we aim to:
- promote responsible investment into forestry
- support investors and financial institutions through education and awareness to integrate environmental and social risks in their investments and disclosures
- collaborate with financial institutions that uphold PRI’s principles
- join PRI’s signatories in policy change efforts that advocate for deforestation-free investments in a sustainable market
- build organizational capacity for engaging with the financial sector on responsible investment.
This collaboration marks a significant step in advancing FSC’s efforts to leverage responsible investment to recognize and promote forests as powerful solutions to climate risk.
